Landscape Engineer
Job Purpose:
The Landscape Engineer is responsible for overseeing and enhancing all soft landscaping assets across the portfolio, ensuring the highest standards of presentation, sustainability, safety, and functionality. The role provides technical expertise, manages landscaping contractors, irrigation systems, and horticultural activities, while ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry best practices, and facilities management standards to deliver exceptional landscape environments and customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities:
Support the Facilities Management Team by managing the service provider and supervising all aspects of landscape maintenance and horticultural operations across multiple high-profile properties, while understanding the scope of works including the following:
Management - of grass, plants, palms, trees, weeding, pruning, trimming, planting media, greenhouses, on-site nurseries, fertilisers, pesticides, and associated horticultural treatments.
Irrigation Systems operation - inspection, maintenance, and optimisation of drip, sprinkler, subsurface, and semi-automatic irrigation systems to ensure efficient water management.
Artificial Turf installation - maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of artificial grass and synthetic landscape surfaces.
Seasonal Enhancement Projects - planning and delivery of grass regeneration, seasonal planting programmes, landscape rejuvenation works, and improvement initiatives.
• Manage landscaping service providers through effective control and monitoring of preventive and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring full compliance with service agreements, KPIs, and client expectations.
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and quality assessments to maintain exceptional landscape presentation standards and optimal asset condition.
• Investigate client complaints and service requests, develop corrective action plans, monitor implementation, and ensure timely and satisfactory resolution.
• Review, validate, and certify contractor invoices based on measured site performance, achievement of agreed service levels, and contractual obligations.
• Support the Landscaping Manager by developing business cases and improvement proposals, including recommendations for materials, technologies, sustainability initiatives, budgets, and operational enhancements.
• Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for works that fail to meet contractual requirements, quality standards, safety regulations, or client expectations, and monitor corrective actions through to closure.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements, maintaining proficiency in the safe use of landscaping tools, equipment, machinery, chemicals, and horticultural practices.
• Liaise regularly with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and stakeholders both on-site and off-site to review performance, discuss operational matters, and drive continuous improvement.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering maintenance activities, irrigation performance, water consumption, weather impacts, pest control requirements, staffing, achievements, improvement initiatives, and operational support activities.
• Monitor plant health and landscape conditions, identifying pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and biological issues, while implementing appropriate treatment and control measures.
• Design, develop, or assist with landscape and irrigation projects by preparing layouts, sketches, programmes, cost estimates, material schedules, manpower requirements, and equipment plans.
Job Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree with Agricultural Engineering from a well-regarded university or similar degree in the field.
Have at least 5 years’ experience in landscaping practices and procedures, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience at supervisory level
Must hold a UAE Driver’s license.
Knowledge:Have experienced landscaping on significant premium estates, communities, and cities with vast experience across varieties of planting and landscapes.
Experience in Facilities Management and/or 5* Hotels will be highly regarded.
Must have experience and understand irrigation systems.
Greenhouse experience will be an added value.
Skills:Understand AutoCAD Design Soft & Hard Landscaping Schematics
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to successfully interact with all levels of the Company and subcontractors.
