Job Summary
The Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, preserving, issuing, and controlling materials, components, tools, equipment, and inventory items to support operational, manufacturing, maintenance, and program requirements. The role is accountable for maintaining accurate inventory records, processing inventory transactions, and ensuring compliance with approved storage, handling, and traceability requirements.
The role supports material availability, inventory control, and warehouse operations through accurate record management and timely material issuance. Effective execution of storekeeping activities contributes to inventory accuracy, operational continuity, compliance, and the achievement of organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
Material Receipt, Storage & Issuance
Receive, verify, inspect, store, preserve, and issue materials, components, tools, equipment, and supplies in accordance with approved procedures and documentation, maintaining material availability, inventory accuracy, and record integrity.
Store and control materials in designated locations, including items requiring special handling, preservation, environmental controls, or traceability requirements, protecting material condition, usability, and compliance.
Segregate, identify, and control damaged, rejected, quarantined, and non-conforming materials while maintaining accurate issue records, preventing unauthorized use and supporting quality compliance.
Inventory Control & Record Management
Maintain accurate inventory records and process stock receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, and other inventory transactions within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), supporting inventory visibility, accountability, and data integrity.
Conduct stock counts, inventory verification activities, and discrepancy investigations while reporting shortages, variances, and replenishment requirements, improving inventory accuracy and supporting material availability.
Maintain material identification, part number integrity, revision status, lot numbers, serial numbers and traceability records in accordance with approved BOM and engineering requirements.
Support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and inventory revision-control activities by ensuring only approved materials are issued for operational and manufacturing use.
Material Handling & Warehouse Support
Perform material handling, internal transfers, picking, packing, labelling, loading, unloading, and distribution activities, facilitating efficient material flow and operational support.
Maintain material identification, traceability, segregation, storage arrangements, and housekeeping standards while supporting critical spare parts activities, strengthening inventory control, accessibility, and workplace efficiency.
Pick, stage, kit and issue materials to support prototype builds, testing activities and manufacturing operations while maintaining inventory accuracy and material traceability.
Stakeholder Coordination & Service Support
Coordinate with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, Maintenance, suppliers, and service providers regarding material requirements, receipts, deliveries, and inventory-related issues, supporting timely material availability and effective operational support.
Report material shortages, inventory discrepancies, stock availability concerns, and other inventory-related issues while providing status updates on material movements and inventory positions, supporting timely corrective action and informed decision-making.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
Monitor adherence to approved storage, preservation, handling, and material control requirements while maintaining accurate warehouse and inventory records, supporting asset protection, traceability, and audit readiness.
Promote safe material handling practices and good housekeeping standards, reinforcing a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.
Risk Management & Compliance
Identify, report, and escalate inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, stock losses, material availability concerns, and compliance issues, supporting timely corrective actions and operational continuity.
Monitor inventory conditions, critical inventory items, and stock control activities while complying with applicable quality, safety, security, governance, and regulatory requirements, maintaining inventory integrity, compliance, and operational reliability.
Organizational Contribution
Contribute to knowledge sharing, capability development, and the adoption of leading practices to strengthen organizational performance, professional growth, and operational effectiveness.
Support internal and external audits, inspections, assurance activities, and compliance reviews by providing accurate records, documentation, technical evidence, and timely responses to audit requirements.
Support continuous improvement, lessons learned, and performance analysis initiatives while promoting the implementation of controls best practices, standards, methodologies, and governance requirements to enhance project delivery performance and organizational efficiency.
Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the line manager to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualification & Experience
High School Certificate or equivalent qualification
Experience
3 years of experience in Storekeeping, Inventory Management, Warehouse Operations, Materials Management, or Logistics Support within manufacturing, aerospace, aviation, industrial, or other operational environments in public- or private-sector organizations.
Experience in receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and controlling materials, components, tools, equipment, and inventory items, supporting material availability and inventory accuracy.
Experience in inventory transactions, stock verification, material traceability, inventory record management, and warehouse documentation, maintaining inventory integrity and compliance with approved procedures.
Experience handling serialized inventory, lot-controlled materials, controlled stock items and traceability-related inventory records.
Success Measures (KPIs)
Inventory Accuracy (%): Percentage accuracy between physical inventory and system records, maintaining inventory integrity and stock visibility.
Material Availability (%): Percentage availability of materials, components, tools, and inventory items required to support operational, manufacturing, and maintenance activities.
Material Receipt Accuracy (%): Percentage of received materials accurately verified, recorded, and processed in accordance with approved requirements, supporting inventory integrity and record accuracy.
Material Issue Accuracy (%): Percentage of materials issued correctly against approved requests and requirements, supporting operational continuity and material accountability§ Inventory Transaction Accuracy (%): Percentage of inventory transactions accurately processed within ERP or WMS, maintaining data integrity and traceability.
