Graphic Designer

Job Purpose
The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating innovative, high-quality visual communication materials that support the Department's strategic objectives, public awareness campaigns, stakeholder engagement initiatives, corporate communications, and branding requirements. The role develops creative designs for digital and print platforms, ensuring consistency with organizational identity standards while effectively communicating municipal services, transportation projects, infrastructure initiatives, and community programs to internal and external audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic Design & Creative Development
Design and produce creative visual materials for digital, print, and multimedia platforms.
Develop brochures, reports, newsletters, presentations, infographics, banners, signage, and promotional materials.
Create visual concepts that effectively communicate municipal and transportation-related initiatives and campaigns.
Prepare artwork and design layouts in accordance with approved branding standards.
Ensure high-quality design outputs that meet organizational objectives and communication requirements.
Corporate Branding & Identity Management
Maintain consistency of the Municipality & Transportation corporate identity across all communication materials.
Apply branding guidelines to all design projects and marketing collateral.
Support the development and enhancement of corporate visual identity initiatives.
Review and ensure all creative outputs comply with approved design standards and specifications.
Digital Media & Content Design
Design graphics for websites, social media platforms, mobile applications, and digital campaigns.
Develop motion graphics, interactive content, and digital assets when required.
Create visual content that promotes public awareness campaigns, transportation initiatives, and community engagement programs.
Optimize designs for various digital channels and audience requirements.
Campaign & Project Support
Support communication campaigns related to transportation projects, infrastructure developments, municipal services, and public events.
Collaborate with communication, marketing, planning, engineering, and project teams to develop effective visual materials.
Translate technical and complex information into accessible and visually engaging content.
Assist in the development of campaign concepts, themes, and creative strategies.
Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with internal departments to assess design requirements and project objectives.
Coordinate with external vendors, printers, agencies, and production partners regarding design deliverables.
Present creative concepts and design recommendations to management and stakeholders.
Incorporate stakeholder feedback while maintaining design quality and brand consistency.
Production & Quality Assurance
Prepare files and artwork for printing and digital publication.
Ensure designs meet production specifications and technical requirements.
Review proofs and final outputs to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
Monitor production timelines and ensure the timely delivery of design projects.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Stay current with graphic design trends, technologies, and industry best practices.
Recommend innovative design approaches and creative solutions.
Support the adoption of new design tools, techniques, and communication technologies.
Contribute to enhancing organizational visual communication effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia Design, Fine Arts, Digital Media, or a related field.
Professional certifications in Graphic Design, Adobe Creative Suite, Motion Graphics, or Digital Media are an advantage.
Experience
3-6 years of experience in graphic design, branding, visual communications, or digital media design.
Experience within government, municipalities, public sector organizations, infrastructure, transportation, or corporate communications environments is preferred.
Demonstrated portfolio showcasing diverse design projects across digital and print media.
Technical Competencies
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
Knowledge of branding, typography, layout design, color theory, and visual communication principles.
Experience in social media content design and digital marketing materials.
Understanding of print production processes and digital publishing requirements.
Familiarity with motion graphics, animation, and video editing is desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint.
