Job Purpose
The Infrastructure Strategy Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, development, coordination, and monitoring of infrastructure strategies, programs, and initiatives across the Department of Municipality & Transportation. The role contributes to ensuring that infrastructure investments, development plans, and asset management initiatives align with the department's strategic objectives, urban growth requirements, sustainability goals, and government priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Strategy Planning
Support the development and periodic review of departmental infrastructure strategies, master plans, and long-term investment programs.
Assist in aligning infrastructure initiatives with municipal, transportation, and urban development objectives.
Coordinate the preparation of strategic infrastructure studies, assessments, and planning reports.
Support the identification of future infrastructure needs based on growth projections and development requirements.
Strategic Program Coordination
Coordinate infrastructure strategy initiatives across various departments and stakeholders.
Monitor implementation progress of strategic infrastructure programs and projects.
Facilitate coordination meetings and follow up on action plans and deliverables.
Support strategic decision-making through the provision of accurate planning information and recommendations.
Infrastructure Performance Monitoring
Track key infrastructure performance indicators and strategic objectives.
Assist in developing dashboards, progress reports, and executive-level presentations.
Monitor strategic project implementation against approved plans and targets.
Identify performance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Research & Analysis
Conduct research on infrastructure trends, emerging technologies, and international best practices.
Analyze demographic, transportation, land use, and infrastructure data to support strategic planning.
Evaluate infrastructure capacity requirements and future service demands.
Support benchmarking exercises against regional and international municipalities and transportation authorities.
Asset Planning Support
Assist in the development of infrastructure investment and asset management strategies.
Support prioritization of infrastructure projects based on strategic needs, risk assessments, and service requirements.
Contribute to lifecycle planning and asset sustainability initiatives.
Coordinate with asset management teams to ensure alignment between infrastructure planning and operational requirements.
Stakeholder Management
Coordinate with government authorities, utility providers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
Support engagement activities related to strategic infrastructure initiatives.
Facilitate information sharing and collaboration among project stakeholders.
Ensure stakeholder requirements are incorporated into strategic planning processes.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure infrastructure strategy activities comply with applicable policies, regulations, and planning frameworks.
Maintain documentation related to infrastructure plans, studies, and strategic initiatives.
Support internal and external audit requirements related to infrastructure planning activities.
Assist in developing governance frameworks for infrastructure strategy implementation.
Sustainability & Innovation
Support the integration of sustainability principles into infrastructure planning and development.
Assist in evaluating innovative infrastructure solutions and smart city initiatives.
Contribute to resilience planning and climate adaptation strategies.
Promote efficient and sustainable use of infrastructure resources.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Infrastructure Management, Architecture, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field.
Preferred
Master's Degree in Infrastructure Planning, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Engineering Management, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline.
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
Project Management Professional (PMP).
Infrastructure Asset Management Certification.
Strategic Planning Certification.
Certified Planning Engineer or related professional qualification.
Membership in a recognized engineering or planning professional body.
Experience
3-5 years of relevant experience in infrastructure planning, strategic planning, transportation planning, asset management, urban development, municipal engineering, or related fields.
Experience within government, municipality, transportation, infrastructure, or public sector organizations is preferred.
Experience in strategic studies, planning coordination, performance monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
Familiarity with infrastructure development programs, capital investment planning, and asset management principles.
